Dr. Scott McIntosh, emergency medicine physician with University Health Care provides important information on what you need to know when you face the outdoors.


Overview
• Wilderness medicine and injury prevention has become a growing area of study. At University Health Care, they've instituted a Wilderness Medicine Fellowship
• The emergency department at University Hospital serves the five-state Intermountain Region.
• The most common injuries are fractures, sprains and strains, and trauma to the head and neck. Most of the injuries are caused by a fall or because a person struck or was struck by an object.
