It's summer and you know you want to take a vacation, but just can't think of some place new and different to take the family. There are several destinations within a 2-8 hour drive that will be perfect for a family road trip.

Glenwood Springs Colorado is located 40 miles north of Aspen, Colorado, 60 miles west of Vail, Colorado, and 85 miles east of Grand Junction. Awe-inspiring Glenwood Canyon is the gateway to western Colorado and is the starting point of many popular hiking trails like Hanging Lake and Grizzly Creek. At the confluence of the Colorado River and Roaring Fork River, Glenwood Springs is known for its rafting, kayaking and gold-medal fly fishing. Glenwood Springs is home to the world's largest natural Hot Springs Pool, the natural underground Vapor Caves at Yampah Spa, and the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park and Historic Fairy Caves.

McCall Idaho is truly one of Idaho's hidden gems. The drive north from Boise follows the North Fork of the Payette, a nationally- designated Wild & Scenic River. McCall itself is a laidback town, with happy, friendly, outdoor-oriented people. To get here follow the Payette River Scenic Byway that extends along Idaho 55 from the junction of Idaho 44 west of Boise, north, to McCall. The drive winds through beautiful Payette River canyons and gem-like valleys. The Byway is fully paved, open year- round, and provides access to guided rafting and kayaking, camping areas, mountain biking trail heads, the Boise and Payette National Forests and more. Summer activities include water skiing, cycling, fishing, horseback riding, golfing, river rafting, and music festivals.

Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort is located in South Central Utah approximately 30 miles South of Richfield off I-70 and 5 mile north of Marysvale. It is conveniently located only 75 miles North of Bryce Canyon National Park on Highyway 89. Rating: Utah's re-known Sevier River is at our back door where whitewater rafting, kayaking and tubing offer fun for the whole family. Pineview Reservoir offers outstanding opportunities for boating, fishing and other water sports. The Ogden River provides very good trout fishing from the reservoir down through Ogden Canyon into Ogden City. The South Fork of the Ogden River, located above the reservoir, a blue-ribbon trout stream, is attractive to fly fishermen. The Monte Cristo Mountains, east of Ogden Valley, feature an extensive network of trails. During summer, these mountains provide excellent trails for horseback riding. They are also a favorite area for backcountry camping and hiking. Powder Mountain, Snowbasin, and Wolf Mountain resorts offer excellent mountain bike and hiking trails.
