Family Holiday Recipe Book

Double-sided card stock
Envelope that will fit inside your card and fit 3×5 recipe cards
Paper Cutter
6-8 recipes typed on your computer
Adhesive
Directions
Fold the card stock and cut into a card
(4.25”x5.5”)
Cut off the flap of the envelope and adhere the envelope to the inside
of the card
Decorate the front of the card as desired, so that it says something
like “[family’s] Holiday Recipes”
Type 6-8 of your favorite recipes into your computer. (You can change
the size of your document to be exactly 3×5 by clicking “file”
on the menu bar, “page setup” in the drop down menu, and
“paper” in the pop up. Be sure to adjust the margins to fit
your recipe.) Print recipes onto blank recipe cards or card stock which
matches your card (cut into 3×5 rectangles).
Place recipes in envelope. Tuck booklet into the pocket of an apron
(see below) and tie with holiday ribbon.
Stenciled Apron
Needed:
Apron (from local craft store)
Stencil (card stock and X-acto knife if you are creating your own)
Double-sided adhesive
Machine washable fabric paint
Foam brush
Directions:
Lay your apron on a flat surface.
You can buy or create your own stencil. To create your own, print
desired shape onto card stock. Using an X-acto knife, cut out the sections
you want to paint. Using double sided adhesive, adhere your stencil to the
apron.
Using desired paint and foam brush, fill in the stencil. Remove the
stencil and let dry. Decorate with any additional embellishments.
Personalized Soap Dispenser
Needed:
Soap container (Item #B3222 at Industrial Container)
Pump topper (Item #DP111E at Industrial Container)
8½”x11” paper with individual templates for copying
or printing
Transparencies with copied templates
Paper cutter
Wire cutters or heavy duty scissors
Clear hand soap
Directions
Purchase soap container and pump toppers at Industrial Container.
(1845 S. 5200 W.) Together, they cost $ .83. Using wire cutters or scissors,
trim the pump topper so that it will fit in the container.
Create a template for each container on your computer. First create a
text box (3.2”Hx2.5”W). In several different fonts, type the
words to the “hand text.” (See picture) There will be some
blank room below the text. That will help the text show up in the correct
place when trimmed and placed in the soap container. Copy the text box
and paste several next to each other. I fit 9 on a page. At the top, put the
name of each family.
Print or copy templates onto transparencies. (Using a laser printer or
copy machine.)
Cut out each text box, trimming to just over 3 inches high by 2
½ inches wide. Roll up and put into the container. Fill the container
with clear soap. Screw the pump topper on top and decorate with holiday
ribbon. (You can give this alone, or add a hand towel.)
