These pretzel chicks are a perfect kitchen treat for the kids to help with.
Looking for a fun, no-fuss kitchen craft to do with your kids or grandkids this Easter? These adorable chocolate chicks are as easy as they are sweet! With just a handful of ingredients and a few simple steps, you can hatch a whole flock of edible cuteness right from your kitchen counter.
Studio 5 Food Editor Maddy Tolman shared this simple Easter snack DIY. These chocolate chicks are made from pretzels and just a dab of melted chocolate. These treats are perfect for little hands to help with, and the results are almost too cute to eat (almost).
Chocolate Pretzel Chicks
INGREDIENTS
- 1 bag of mini pretzels
- White chocolate (melting wafers or chips work great)
- Yellow food coloring
- Mini chocolate chips (for the eyes)
- Mini orange M&M’s (for the beaks)
METHOD
- Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and lay out your pretzels, spacing them about an inch apart. This makes assembly easier and prevents sticking.
- Melt your white chocolate in 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring in between, until smooth. Add yellow food coloring until you reach the perfect chick-yellow hue.
- Using a spoon, drop a dab of yellow chocolate into the center of each pretzel, flooding the three holes. This forms the chick’s shape.
- Before the chocolate sets, press a mini chocolate chip into the upper left hole for the eye. Then, place an orange mini M&M just below it for the beak.
- Allow the chocolate to harden completely at room temperature or pop the tray in the fridge for quicker results.
- Once set, your chocolate chicks are ready to serve, share, or snack on.
