Colorful sneakers are showing up this spring!
You can’t talk about spring without talking about spring style, and you can’t talk about spring style this year without talking about colorful sneakers! They are everywhere, and we’re loving it. We’re loving the bold vibes and charming shades that really span the rainbow.
Whether you just want to dip your toe into this trend, or you are ready to fully embrace the statement sneaker moment, Studio 5 Style & Fashion Contributor Casey Matheny shared smart, simple tips to help you pull this trend off with confidence.
Beginner: Start Simple
If you’re new to the colorful sneaker trend, start simple. Casey suggested pairing your favorite sweatsuit with a colorful sneaker. “This really helps to elevate a basic jumpsuit or sweatsuit, and then just pair a colorful sneaker for that little pop,” she said. This makes it easy to add a touch of color without feeling overwhelmed.
Intermediate: Neutral Pairings
If you’re ready to step up your game, neutral pairings are the way to go. Casey recommended combining jeans and a white tee with any color sneaker. “You can never go wrong with this… you could pair any color you want,” she explained. This is a versatile and easy outfit, making it simple to incorporate colorful sneakers into your everyday wardrobe.
Proficient: Monochromatic Looks
If you’re a little more comfortable with the trend, monochromatic looks are a fun choice. “Take the color of sneaker that you have, whatever it is. Choose that color and then put it in your outfit. Repeat it,” Casey explained. Matching your outfit to your sneakers creates a polished look.
Advanced: Metallics and Prints
For the fashion-forward individual, metallics and prints make a bold statement. Metallic sneakers act as a pseudo neutral, adding a touch of glam to any outfit. “These metallics are a great option because they’re also going to work as a pseudo neutral,” Casey emphasized. “You’re going to find that they go with everything, but they just glam it up a little bit.”
When it comes to prints, Casey suggested choosing a color from the print and mimicking it in your outfit. “Just choose any color in here, which there’s tons of colors, and you choose that color and then mimic it in the shoe.”
Casey emphasized that colorful sneakers can work for any age, as long as they are styled appropriately. “It always comes down to the styling. If you just help the upper half look a little bit your age, you’re gonna be fine.”
