Michelle Virtue with BYU Campus Craft and Floral shows us how to put all of those apples to use.
A Few Apple Tips:
• Choose apples for their size and color. Granny Smith apples are one of my favorite for their brilliant green and shiny finish, but Macintosh & Galas are striking & affordable this time of year as well.
• Smaller apples are wonderful simply displayed in glass—bowls, vases, trifle dishes, or simply sitting on a white plate.
• Larger apples make an excellent canvas for acrylic paints, pins, wire, and paper.
• Don’t be afraid to mix mediums. Apples are beautiful in fresh floral centerpieces, filling a wicker basket, or displayed in a wooden bowl.
• Mix color palettes. Don’t be afraid to experiment. The richness of a red apple compliments royal purples, vibrant greens, and the softness of peach tones. Bright “apple” green goes with ANYTHING. I love the simpleness of this vivid shade with black and white, fuschia, or ANY rich shade of fall.
Think outside the apple box and you will find:
