Blast from the Past: Catching Up With Alisa Bangerter

As Studio 5 celebrates 19 years on air, the team is taking a heartfelt look back at the people who helped shape the show into a space of creativity, light, and joy.

One of those unforgettable contributors is Former Party, Holiday, & Ideas Contributor Alisa Bangerter, affectionately known as the “party girl” and a walking Pinterest board long before Pinterest existed.

The Original DIY Queen

Alisa’s segments were legendary for their creativity and accessibility. From turning thrift store finds into home décor to crafting holiday traditions, she inspired viewers to embrace joy and simplicity.

“I tried really hard to have my brain come up with original, fresh, unique ideas that weren’t seen around… that didn’t cost a lot of money,” she shared. “That would just add fun to their family and allow them to have traditions and bring a little joy.”

A Legacy of Traditions

Even after stepping away from her contributor role, Alisa’s influence lives on. Host Brooke Walker recalled, “I had a fully stocked party pantry before I even had my first child—thanks to you. You are in every holiday, Alisa.”

Alisa’s traditions continue with her grandchildren, who love crafts and kitchen fun. “Being a grandma is awesome,” she said with a smile.

Memorable Moments

One of Alisa’s favorite memories was participating in a live audience makeover challenge, where she turned everyday items into treasures. “I had screwdrivers, bird cages… and I would create things out of them.”

Another unforgettable segment? Her Twilight-themed party ideas, complete with red-dyed chocolate fountains. “I kept saying, ‘It’s not real blood, Darin!’ And I went home thinking that was the most ridiculous thing to say on live TV.”

A Tip That Stuck

Alisa also shared a beauty tip she picked up from fellow contributor Holly Stone: “She pulled out her mascara wand and bent the top. Ever since that day, I’ve bent the top of my mascara. So much easier!”

A Heartfelt Goodbye

As the segment wrapped, Brooke summed it up perfectly: “Alisa, we love you so much. Thank you for being part of the Studio 5 scrapbook.”
