From face lotion to body lotion, bubble bath to body washes. Our bathroom can become consumed with tubes and bottles of beauty products. But do we really need a separate product for every body part? The answer is not usually. Below is a breakdown of a few common beauty products and the answer to that time old question –
What do I really need?

Eye Make-up Remover vs. Facial Cleanser

The eye area is much more sensitive that the facial area. If you use a mild cleanser, then it can double as an eye make-up remover. Skin care for combination or oily skin tends to be a little harsher and should not be used around the eye area.

Separate or combine? Can be combined into one product providing it is mild

Body Lotion vs. Face Lotion

Manufacturers use higher quality ingredients to care for the delicate skin on the face. If you are in a rush, you can use your body lotion on your face. However, doing this frequently can irritate or dry out your skin. The skin on the body is tougher than that on the face.

Separate or combine? Best to keep separate

Face Tanner vs. Body Self Tanner

Because self-tanners can be drying, manufacturers add heavy moisturizing ingredients in products for the body, which may clog pores and cause breakouts on your face. Find a self tanner that is for both face and body

Separate or combine? Keep separate unless using one for face and body.

Night Cream and Day Cream

Your skin will not be harmed by using a night cream during the day or a day cream at night. However, night creams are generally thicker, which can make skin look greasy if worn during the day. Daytime moisturizers work great overnight. Just be sure to choose one without an SPF, since sunscreen ingredients may cause irritation.

Separate or combine? Can combine, but be sure to use sunscreen in a foundation for daytime wear.

Eye Shadow vs. Eyeliner

Wet/dry eye shadows can parallel as an eyeliner. Just use an eyeliner or angle detailing brush, wet shadow and apply. You can also purchase a liquid eyeliner sealer (www.sephora.com) that can make eyeliner waterproof.

Separate or combine? Combine

Body Spray vs. Perfume

How often do you “freshen up”? If it is more than twice a day, then opt for the less expensive version body spray. Eau de toilette is heavier on oils and light on alcohol thus giving it more staying power. It is also considerably more costly.

Separate or combine? Can combine. Simply choose your price point and your desired level of intensity.

Bubble Bath vs. Body Wash

Bubble bath has added detergents that help bubbles form. This may dry your skin if used as an everyday cleanser. You may use body wash as a bubble bath but you won’t get the same concentration of bubbles.

Separate or combine? Combine-if you can live with fewer bubbles.
