2 Cute Father’s Day Crafts Kids Can Make With Basic Supplies

With these Father’s Day crafts, the kids can make their gift for Dad!

Dad’s big day is coming up. If you’re looking for a way to make him feel extra special, get the kids in on the pre-holiday prep! No fancy tools and no pricey supplies—these dad-worthy DIYs are fun for all ages! And, they’re guaranteed to earn a proud spot on Dad’s shelf.

Early Childhood Education expert Kelsey Cook shared two simple and sweet projects that let the kids do the gifting.

Craft 1: “Dad, You’re Out of This World!” Handprint Art

This adorable space-themed craft transforms your child’s handprints into quirky, colorful aliens—an out-of-this-world keepsake Dad will treasure.

SUPPLIES

  • White cardstock or printable background
  • Paint for the child’s handprints
  • Glue (optional)
  • Googly eyes
  • Colored paper (optional for tracing and cutting)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Paint one or two of your child’s hands and press them onto the cardstock to make handprints. Alternatively, trace the handprints on colored paper and cut them out.
  2. Glue googly eyes onto each handprint to bring your alien creatures to life.
  3. Stamp or glue the handprints onto the printable background. If you have multiple children, use one handprint per child to create a family of aliens.
  4. Add the date and your child’s name for a special touch.

Craft 2: “My Dad Rocks” Picture Frame

This sensory and hands-on project is perfect for toddlers and older kids alike—and gives Dad a meaningful photo display decorated by his little ones.

SUPPLIES

  • Jumbo craft sticks or an inexpensive wooden frame from a craft store
  • Small, clean rocks or pebbles
  • Glue
  • Marker or paint pen
  • A photo of your child

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Have your child glue the rocks around the edges of the frame, creating a tactile border.
  2. Use a bold paint pen or marker to write “My Dad Rocks” along the top or bottom of the frame.
  3. Place a cute photo of your child inside the frame. For an extra personal touch, your child can write the words on a piece of paper to include in the frame.
