Make DIY Topiaries Using a Basic Foam Cone and Your Imagination

DIY topiaries are the perfect project for letting your imagination run wild!

When you hear the word topiary, you probably picture a perfectly clipped hedge, or those tightly formed plants shaped into spirals.

Studio 5 Creative Contributor Michelle Crowley says the art of topiaries has grown far beyond the garden gate. From faux florals to unexpected elements, the updated DIY approach to topiaries is filled with creative potential.

Base Options

  • Wooden topiary forms from Cotton & Quill
  • Styrofoam or cardboard forms from craft stores

The foam option works best when using faux flowers because you can poke right into the foam. The paper option works best for things you need to hot glue on. Hot glue melts Styrofoam so it can be tricky for gluing.
