Don’t be scared of dark nails! Here are 4 fresh style & beauty trends for Fall 2024

Dark nails and cowboy chic are just two of our favorite trends for fall.

So this time of year, we’re all feeling it. It’s sort of reset time for your schedules, for good habits, and for fall style. We’re looking for what’s next, and we are ready to dive in and be those early adopters.

Style & Fashion Contributor Casey Matheny, and Style & Beauty Contributor Megan Moore share what is on their radar this fall season.

Transition: The Essence of Fall

Fall is all about transitioning from the bright, vibrant colors of summer to more muted, earthy tones. This season, we’re seeing a shift towards more grounded and saturated colors. Megan describes it as “a little bit more dialed in and down to earth.”

French Girl Lips: Bold Yet Soft

Megan introduced us to the French girl lip trend, which is all about bold color but with a sheer, blurred edge. “It’s not like a perfect line of lipstick,” she explained.

To achieve this look, use a matte lipstick and tap it on your lips for a feathered effect. “It’s like popsicle lips where your lips have been tinted, but it’s not intentional lipstick.” Megan recommended MAC’s Velvet Blur for this purpose.

Earth Tones: Rich and Grounded

Casey is all about earth tones this fall. “We’ve got the chocolate browns, burgundies, olives, and navies,” she said. These colors are perfect for creating a monochromatic look or mixing and matching for a richer palette.

“It’s a little warmer than black, but still safe,” Casey said.

Dark Cherry Nails: The Color of Fall

For nails, the color of fall is dark cherry. “Something that is almost black, but it reads a little bit red or a little bit purple,” Megan advised. This timeless, classic look is perfect for tying in with the burgundy tones that are hot in accessories this season.

Megan said it might look a little scary in the bottle, but to pay off is worth it. “Push past that limit because once it’s on your hands, you’ll say, ‘Oh, this is actually really cool.’”

Western Wear: Modern Cowboy Chic

Casey brought a just touch of Western wear into the mix. “We don’t want to look like a costume cowboy,” she cautioned.

Instead, incorporate Western-inspired pieces like a paisley shirt or a handkerchief into your outfit. “Just incorporating these pieces by themselves to stand alone is the way that I would recommend doing it.”
