But men don’t share the same sentiment.
The same survey revealed 55 percent of men are in and out of the bathroom in less than 15 minutes.
If an hour of beauty doesn’t meet your busy schedule, make-up artist and wardrobe stylist Holly Mathie shares a practical solution: The 5-minute face.

As women, we do not have a lot of time but still want to look our best. With this 5 Minutes to Fabulous routine, we can manage our time, money and image all at once.
The most important place to begin is with a good skin care routine. Good skin is like an artists’ blank canvas. If a painter tried to paint a masterpiece over the top of someone else’s work the results could be disastrous. Your skin is your canvas. To help it look fresh and clean follow a good skin care routine specific to your type of skin. An important element in a skin care routine-especially after we have spent time in the summer sun-is exfoliation. Use a facial scrub no more that 2 times a week. Our skin naturally scuffs off dead skin cells but an exfoliater helps it along. St Ives. Apricot Facial Scrub-found at most drug stores-is an inexpensive, quality scrub. Mary Kay’s Microdermabrasion is an even more intense exfoliation process that creates healthy, glowing skin.
There are 5 steps in the 5 Minutes to Fabulous routine:
Five Minutes to Fabulous: HYDRATE
Quench your thirsty skin, and save time by combining 2 steps. Mix your moisturizer with your foundation. This evens out the skin tone. If you are really in a time crunch, use your fingers. The dewy look is still in so you may skip the powder to achieve this “glow”. If you are worried about looking “shiny”, dust on a little powder.
Five Minutes to Fabulous: BRIGHTEN
Concealer is a woman’s best friend. Every woman over the age of 18 should have some in her make-up bag. Concealer can brighten tired eyes and give a more youthful appearance. When purchasing a concealer, buy no more than one shade lighter than your skin tone. Too light of concealer is too obvious. Dot the concealer under and in the corner of your eyes, at the sides of the nose, and on any blemishes. Cream concealers are best for dry skin, liquid concealer are best for normal/combination skin. The L’Oreal brand of cream and liquid concealer works nicely and is very affordable.
Five Minutes to Fabulous: DEFINE
Line the top of your eye using a dark color-navy, brown or charcoal KOHL pencil. This type of pencil is softer and goes on more smoothly and evenly. Most twist-ups are KOHL or look for the word in the product description. When applying, gently pull the corner of your eye outward, and starting at the inside top corner and working toward the outer corner, delicately draw right into the lash line. Your lashes should wiggle back and forth. You do not want a line sitting ON TOP of the lash line but rather IN the lash line for greater definition. Apply a heavy coat of mascara to top and bottom lashes, wiggling the wand back and forth as you move outward. Black mascara is a good basic for everyone except the woman who has blond lashes. Then a brown-black is a good option. Dab a bone color eye shadow at brow bone. If you have minimal fine lines and wrinkles, use a light shimmer.
Five Minutes to Fabulous: POP
Since you do not have any color of eye shadow on your lids, use a brighter color blush. Apply to EITHER the apples of the cheeks, OR the cheekbone, but never both. Gel blushes are a great, quick alternative. Dab some on your cheeks and blend with your fingers.
Five Minutes to Fabulous: POLISH
Lipstick completes the look. Look for what finish you like in the title of the product i.e.: sheer, semi-gloss, matte, 8-hour wear, moisturizing, etc. Again, try a brighter color to brighten the face. Dot some lip gloss in the middle “pout” of your lips and you are polished and ready to go. Drug store lipsticks are an inexpensive option. Try L’Oreal or Max Factor for great colors and rich pigment. Lip stains are a great alternative to lipsticks and yield a more sheer look-like you just bit into a ripe berry.
