When thinking of ideas for shadowboxes, think “outside the box” for what to put in the box! The more unique the items are, the more exciting they will be to look at.

First of all just think of things that you love and start gathering them.

Do you have a collection you could showcase: stamps, coins, seashells, spoons, comic books, pins, dolls, guns, miniature cars, watches, or antique jewelry. These can be things that you would love to get out of a box or attic and let everyone see them. They will be permanently on display up on your wall.

What about a hobby that you love? Perhaps fly tying, polished rocks, scrap booking,or floral arranging. You could display some of your best work, it may inspire you when you are working on them.

Sports items are always a fun showcase. Whether it is from a favorite sports team, player, or maybe your own or your children’s items. Any kind of sport would work great: football, baseball, basketball, soccer, dance, golf, gymnastics, swimming, diving, or car racing. You could frame an outfit a ball, trophies, ribbons, or awards.

Maybe you love music. You could frame the instrument along with some sheet music, or a playbill and tickets from your favorite musical.

Then of course there is any event that happens in your life. You can commemorate it with a shadowbox. A baby’s birth, a graduation, or a wedding. You can frame outfits, jewelry, announcements, along with the pictures to remember it by.

The possibilities are endless! Make those important things in your life a showcase in your home.
