Get Organized: Scrapbook Sanity

Kelly White with Heartland Paper Co. shares simple, but effective ways to find some scrapbook sanity in your cluttered collection.

When it comes to clearing up scrapbook clutter, start with three basic steps:

1. Sort the clutter (paper with paper, stickers with stickers, photos with photos).

2. Purge the excess and dump the guilt of unused materials (don’t hang on to product that you will never use, donate it to a great cause-women’s shelters love paper and stickers).

3. Find a storage solution that makes you want to use your products (easy access, pleasing to the eye, showcases what you have).

Paper Storage

Go the traditional root with clear sheet protectors in magazine style paper holders or think outside the box by using household items for unique storage…hang patterned papers vertically by brand using clips and pant hangers(hangers with clips).

Embellishment storage

Classic embellishment storage includes divided plastic bins and drawers. Utilize extra containers and bins to store embellishments by color or theme. An empty spice rack makes the perfect spinning storage solution.

Photo Storage

The Photo Dock by We-R Memory Keepers provides a perfect solution to photo organization and storage. It divides photos by date or theme so they are ready to grab for scrapping. Old shoeboxes covered with paper also make for fun and presentable photo storage.

Crop Storage

If you are someone that enjoys attending group crops, consider organizing your supplies by project. Use individual envelopes to store all of the paper, photos and embellishments that you would like to use on a particular project together. This will save you time and stress, making your crop a productive experience
