Don’t have a dinner plan? Your pantry is probably already full of the ingredients for this meal, and it whips up in 30 minutes, max! The pairing of hamburger and fried rice might be one you’re not familiar with, but once you try it, you’ll be hooked!
Wendy Paul shares how fast you can make this weeknight meal. She shares why she put these two dishes together, and where to find the sauce to top it all off.
Hamburger Fried Rice
- Olive oil
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 small sweet onion diced
- 1 tbsp. dried parsley
- 3-4 drops smoke flavoring
- 1 tsp. garlic
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 2 cups cooked rice (I like Jasmine)
- Shredded cheese
- Diced onions
- Diced pickles
- Diced tomatoes
- Shredded lettuce or cabbage
- Special Sauce (Hidden Valley or Walmart brand)
In a large skillet, over medium heat, brown the meat, onion and celery in a little oil.
Once the meat is browned, add the parsley, garlic, salt, and smoke flavoring and stir to combine. Let the spices heat 1-2 minutes.
Then add the cooked rice. Stir, and cook for another 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally to heat the rice through and fry it. Once heated through, serve immediately.
Top with your favorite toppings. Special sauce, onions, tomatoes, pickles lettuce or cabbage and cheese.
