We have selected five events and selected five outfits that are not only flattering for most women, but add a little excitement into holiday dressing (not just your typical black cocktail!).

Holiday Wear: “The Work Party”
People often under dress for these types of functions. Women should embrace the few opportunities we have to dress up…and not just wear your standard black dress. This holiday season, try something different with the color and fabric of a dress. And, don’t be afraid to be a little showy.

This is the perfect time of year to pull out the metallic colors because you can’t get away with wearing them as easily during other seasons. This dress is simple and comfortable to wear, but the color and type of fabric make it dressy enough for nicer events like a work party. We paired this with gold shoes to highlight the flashiness for the holidays, along with soft, rose-colored stone accessories.

Holiday Wear: “The Friends Luncheon”
Luncheons with friends are a great time to wear a moderately dressy outfit. With this outfit, we wanted to show off the fact that it’s the holidays, but keep it classy.

This look is the perfect combination: velvet pants, a silk shirt and stilettos. The pants add the holiday flair and velvet is great for hiding imperfections in your lower body. The shirt is soft and the overall outfit is very feminine and flattering.

Holiday Wear: “The Neighborhood Party”
We love this dress because it’s such a great holiday color, but without being too dressy for a neighborhood party. We paired it with tall boots and a big belt. It’s a simple dress that let’s you accessorize. It’s also super comfortable to wear because it’s a jersey knit.

Holiday Wear: “The Church Social”
With a church Christmas party you want to make a statement, while remaining relatively conservative. This is the perfect dress for the occasion. It’s a jersey knit, but with enough details to dress it up for the perfect holiday outfit. The neck is a double-layered V-neck and the skirt has a 4″ band around the bottom. The belt is really what makes this dress stand out. It’s a wrap belt and gives the dress a bit of an Asian flair. The deep charcoal is very in this season…and this dress can be dressed up with silver shoes and a silver clutch or dressed down with some simple black pumps.

Holiday Wear: “The Dinner Party”
This is the perfect dress for a dinner party. It’s a variation on your typical black cocktail dress…but the red sash and the layer of lace that graces the top of the dress make it a holiday classic. This dress is also very flattering on most body types because the seam runs down the center of the dress from a V-neck, versus the typical “seam at side” dress. Again, this can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Shabby Apple is a local clothing company that features fresh, funky fashion.

After years of not being able to find stylish dresses that covered enough skin to make you really feel comfortable (without wearing a tank top, cardigan or long slip), owners Emily and CK decided to do something about it. They visited trade shows, marketplaces and designer studios only to discover the problem was not that department stores weren’t buying the right dresses, but that designers weren’t designing them.

Shabby Apple is proud to offer you fantastic dresses that allow you to look fabulous, without having to compromise anything else.
