Studio 5’s Darin Adams and At Home Furnishings’ Lynne Davis describe the beautiful “Isabell”
Bangerter Homes’ featured home during the upcoming Parade of Homes. You’ll find this outstanding home in Daybreak with breathtaking views of the Wasatch.

Here are tips to help you with your next designing project for your home:

1. Find a source of inspiration when you’re putting together a room or even an entire home. Lynne and Darin check out a colorful pillow with reds, greens, golds and black featured prominently in the Isabell. These colors can be taken to the paint store, the furniture store, any store to give you the perfect colors to match your entire home decor.

2. Incorporate the view as a decorating element. Lynne suggests that a lone window can utilize the view from outside to create a unique look on the inside.

3. In the home, Lynne also points out that around the window space in the dining room, there is lots of lost space space so utilize that lost space by putting a window seat next to the window. Add pillows and put drawers underneath that you can store linens, Christmas decorations or even dishes for your dining room table

4. Lynne suggests also that when arranging a room, a big mistake people make is to always put their furniture up against the wall. This makes for an uninteresting room. In the living room area, Lynne suggests you create intimate groupings in a room by moving furniture out away from the wall at diagonal angles and creating cozy conversational groupings around, for example a fireplace.

5. In the Isabell, a plasma flat screen TV hangs over the fireplace in a unique idea that adds a different look over the fireplace … a “moving” television picture. Lynne suggests that you add warmth to the technology in the room by putting a beautiful frame around the plasma TV and make the TV a welcome addition to the cozy room.

6. Finally, varying heights in a room also adds interest to your decorating tool bag. For example, in the Isabell, Lynne has a large, tall cabinet standing next to two pictures that hang a few feet lower than the top of the cabinet.
