Makeup Must-Haves For Your Coloring

With the hundreds of hues at the makeup counter it’s hard to know what
shades really complement your look. So, today we have a custom-coloring
guide with the best makeup picks for your coloring. Whether you’re a blonde,
brunette or redhead, makeup artist Amy Fromm has the must-have makeup
recommendations that go with your hair color.

Blondes

“Since blond hair surrounds your face with light, play up that golden glow
with a touch of iridescence.”
—Brett Freedman, L.A. makeup artist;
founder, Vanitymark Cosmetics

Blondes look great in sheer shades of peach, pink, gold, and champagne. I
feel like blondes can get away with the most color. Go crazy with color on
your eyes or lips – not both!

Eyes: MAC “Soft Brown” eye shadow through the crease.

Cheeks: Nars “Amour” blush

Brow colors: MAC “Omega” eye shadow applied with angled brush, or MAC
“Fling” brow pencil.

Lips: MAC Viva Glam “Gaga 2” Lipglass

Brunettes

“Dark brown hair frames the face, creating a gorgeous canvas for bolder
colors.”
–Petra Strand, makeup artist; creator, Pixi by Petra

Brunettes look amazing in metallic shades of brown, copper, and gold.

Eyes: MAC “Bronze”, “Woodwinked”, and “Amber Lights” are a few of my
faves! Remember to choose a Matte crease color while using metallics on
your lid. Mixing texture is ALWAYS best.

Cheeks: Nars “Love Joy” Blush

Best Brow colors for brunettes: MAC “Mystery”, “Charcoal Brown”, or
“Coquette” depending on your shade of brown. Use small angled brush to
apply. I also like MAC “Lingering” brow pencil for medium brunettes.

Lips: MAC “Get Rich Quick” Dazzleglass

Redheads

“Red hair naturally adds warmth to the complexion; colors that have a hint of
brown or apricot enhance that without looking too bright.”
—Bobbi
Brown, author of Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual

I personally LOVE a monochromatic orange look on Redheads! Different
shades of orange and warm browns on the eyes, cheeks, and lips, look
STUNNING!

Eyes: MAC “Brown Script” eyeshadow swept through the crease.
You can also really play up your red hair by using green on your eyes. Red
and green are complimentary colors and look smashing together.

Cheeks: MAC “Style” Blush.

Brow colors for Redheads: MAC “Cork”, “Saddle”, or even “Brown Script”
depending on your red! Use small angled brush to apply.

Lips: MAC “Red Enriched” lip liner with MAC “So Chaud” lipstick.
