Mountain Heights Academy

For some kids, traditional brick-and-mortar school just doesn’t work. Whether students are accelerated, travel frequently, pursuing a career, like to learn at their own pace or, for any other reason, traditional high school just doesn’t work for them.

DeLania Tonks, from Mountain Heights Academy of Utah explains why the academy is a great option.

Mountain Heights Academy, formerly Open High School of Utah, is a tuition-free, online public charter school available to all Utah students, grades 7 – 12.

Founded in 2009, Mountain Heights Academy has become the premiere online high school in Utah.

Mountain Heights Academy is also accredited by Northwest Accreditation Commission and is NCAA approved, just like any other public school. It was also named Best of State and ranked as the top-scoring online high school in the state.

Schoolwork is divided into weekly modules, which empower students with the freedom to complete their assignments when and where they choose within each week.

Students keep in very close contact with teachers and receive individual teacher instruction until students fully understand concepts.

Parents frequently say how impressed they are with the genuine interest and concern teachers have for their students. Teachers give students confidence and help them to succeed in school.

Among the academic opportunities Mountain Heights Academy provides, students have plenty of social interaction. Monthly service activities, an internal social network and even prom allow students to socialize and form friendships.

Mountain Heights Academy students can also participate in programs like orchestra and seminary as well as sports at their local high school.

Students can now register for the 2013/2014 school year for grades 7 through 12. To enroll, visit mountainheightsacademy.org.
