These motivational mantras sum um Emily’s time on Studio 5!
She has pushed us, motivated us, and really been our biggest cheerleader for the last five years. Now, Emily Nelson is stepping down as our official Studio 5 Fitness contributor, as she continues to carve out new territory in the fitness industry.
We are cheering her on in that, but we wanted to give her a proper farewell. So we gathered some Studio 5 friends for a big group workout with Emily at the lead. She then shared her top five takeaways from her time on Studio 5.
You are Enough
Emily’s first message is punctuated by a huge exclamation point: “You are enough just the way you are.” Emily wants women to tune out the noise and respect themselves.
“Whatever you’re doing is good and you need to learn to respect yourself and love that,” she emphasized.
There is a Time and Season for Everything
Emily honors women’s current life chapters, recognizing that there is a time and a season for everything. “There’s a time and a season when you will be able to put so much into your health and wellness journey, and sometimes when you have nothing to give,” she said. She emphasized creating sustainable habits during times of abundance to carry through tougher seasons.
Motivation Does Not Come From Guilt
A significant push from Emily has been motivation without guilt. “Guilt and shame will never work as motivation.”
She encouraged women to find internal motivation that goes beyond external appearances. “Things like, ‘I want to run with my grandchildren,’ or ‘I want to be able to get up and down the stairs,’” Emily said.
Movement is Medicine
Emily has always promoted the idea that movement is medicine.
She believes in celebrating all forms of movement, not just traditional exercise. “Any movement is good,” she said, emphasizing its benefits for both physical and mental health.
Listen to Miki
Emily’s partnership with health contributor Miki Eberhardt has changed the approach to health and exercise on Studio 5. Emily highlighted Miki’s wealth of knowledge in nutrition and wellness. Their steady, traditional health values have provided a consistent message amidst the noise of quick fixes.
