There are some foods that just say “Christmas.” From nutmeg to oranges, cranberries, and rosemary, these aromas add so much to our holiday festivities. But… we aren’t cooking with them, we are decorating with them!
Carly Wood, of The Garden Spot, shares how we can take items we’ve cultivated and turn them into something to share! She has three ideas that use natural ingredients in a beautifully creative way.
Simmer Pots
INGREDIENTS
- Cranberries
- Cinnamon sticks
- Ground nutmeg
- Whole cloves
- Clementine
- Spring of fresh greens
- Ribbon
- Bell
INSTRUCTIONS
- Great to give as gifts. Add ingredients into a food safe box, attach ribbon + greens
- Can add a tag with instructions if gifting.
*DO NOT let your pot run out of water!
Grapevine & Rosemary Place Card
SUPPLIES
Can be found in your yard or fridge
- Mini grapevines (can even make your own)
- Rosemary sprigs
- Ribbon
- Place name cards
- Could also add
- Juniper
- Cypress
- Berries
INSTRUCTIONS
- Attach a simple name if wanting them labeled or leave them without a name to add an organic element to your tablescape.
Simple Orange & Cinnamon Stick Ornaments
SUPPLIES
- Dehydrated orange slices
- Waxed thread
- Sewing needle
- Cinnamon sticks
- Wooden beads
INSTRUCTIONS
- Dehydrate oranges ahead of time.
- Gather other ingredients and tie them together for a fun addition to your tree.
