Organ Donation Awareness

Alex McDonald explains how unicyclists tie into the effort

and how easy it is to be an organ or tissue donor.

The UFOs, or Unicycling for Organs team is a group of youth, age 14 to 19 who ride unicycles to raise awareness about the need for organ, eye and tissue donation. They emphasize the need for living kidney donation with the motto, “One Wheel, One Kidney, One Decision.” While they are at Fresh Market, they will entertain shoppers with jumps, tricks and even a three-wheel unicycle!

Currently, there are over 106,000 people in the United States who are waiting for a life saving organ transplant. National Donate Life Month was established in 2003 as an opportunity to make a special effort to celebrate the tremendous generosity of those who have saved lives through organ, eye and tissue donation and to encourage more Americans to register their decision to save lives through donation.

For more information regarding organ donation, stop by your local Fresh Market and pick up information or log on to www.yesutah.org.
