Repair Your Sun Damaged Skin

The Gateway Aesthetic Institute & Laser Center now has high tech ways to achieve that healthy glow.

The first method, laser resurfacing, removes the entire layer of sun damaged skin along with those pesky surface skin cancers. Laser resurfacing also removes wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, and other sun damage problems. People who regularly see a dermatologist to get spots frozen are a great choice for this treatment. It takes about an hour, and takes care of the whole face. However, recovery does take about 7 to 14 days.

The second treatment, photodynamic therapy, involves a prescription cream (Medevixia) or solution (Levulan Kerastick) that a patient spreads on the problem area of their skin. After about 3 to 12 hours, depending on the patient, red light is applied for 20 minutes. Because this treatment can feel like sunburn, cold air and a water mist are sprayed on the face throughout the process. The skin will look like it’s been sunburned for about a week after the visit.

Why try these new methods at the Gateway Aesthetic Institute & Laser Center? Both remedies have been proven effective in removing cancerous skin spots. After the treatments, the skin feels nurtured, looks younger, and feels healthier, something we are all looking for! But even more, these treatments rarely leave scars and can even reduce the amount of visits you need to make to the dermatologist in years to come.
