Spring clean… in the fall! 5 cleaning tricks that will have your home sparkling

These cleaning tricks will change the way you tidy up.

No need to wait until spring; right now is the best time to tackle that deep cleaning list! We’re letting a pro step in and teach us her best fall cleaning tips… from shower doors to window screens.

Briana Lybbert shares cleaning tricks and tips to whip us into shape for the fall, not the spring.

“Fall cleaning is just as important as spring cleaning because we’re about to go into hibernation mode, so you want it to be clean,” Briana emphasized.

Screen Cleaning Hack

Cleaning window screens isn’t something you typically think to do. “It’s really not common. In fact, if you are out there cleaning your screens, even once a year, you get an A,” Briana said.

Briana uses WD-40 and a microfiber cloth. “You’re just going to spray it on the cloth,” She said. “That way you have better control of your product. Wipe it on your screen and you don’t even need to pre-clean it. This will take all the dirt off in one go.” WD-40 also helps repel the elements, and will keep them clean months longer than soap and water.

After Briana sprays it, she runs a dryer sheet over the screen to help repel dust. She also said not to worry about the smell… it fades in less than two hours.

Hard Water Spots on Glass

“For hard water spots, this product is my absolute favorite: the Chemical Guys Hard Water Remover,” Briana recommended. “The first time I used it, I felt like I was living in an infomercial!”

Follow up the hard water remover with a high gloss sealant to repel water and keep your glass looking clean longer.

Regular Glass Cleaning

“Vinegar is amazing. You just have to let it sit,” Briana emphasized. “If you’ve ever tried vinegar and you didn’t have good success with it, you need to let it sit a little longer.”

Briana mixes one cup of vinegar with two tablespoons of Dawn dish soap. Use this mixture in your shower for best results.

Briana also has a special rag she like to use for glass cleaning. “If I could shout out anything, these glass rags are a game changer,” she said. “It’s got a little hook so you can hang it. There’s no special care… just throw them in with your regular wash and dryer and they come out streak free.” Find them here.

Stain Removal

Briana said hydrogen peroxide is good for blood and wine stains, and Dawn is one of her absolute favorites for grease. “So the combo of the two of them is the ultimate stain remover,” she emphasized.

“Spray it, scrub it out, throw it in, and it’s great,” she said.

Changing the Duvet Cover

No one likes changing the duvet cover. “It’s like a full body workout trying to get in there, and I dread it,” Briana said. She showed a two person method for changing your duvet cover. See the video above for the tutorial, or find it on Briana’s Instagram.
