Measuring Your Face
(special thanks to http://www.eHow.com)
1) Choose good lighting and stand in front of the mirror. You’ll need a tape measure, to write down your measurements.
2) measure across top of cheekbones. Place end of tape just past outer corner of eye. This is your start point. Carefully lay tape in straight line across bridge of nose, past outer corner of your other eye. This is the end point of measurment. Tape should rest on top of “apples” of cheeks or on top of cheekbones. Read number at end point and write down measurement.
3) Measure jaw line next. Start on one side of jaw at base near ear. Run tape along jaw until the middle of your chin. Multiply the number at the end point by two and write this measurement.
4) Measure forehead by placing start point of tape on one side of forehead at widest point halfway between eyebrows and hairline. Run tape along forehead til you come to same point on the opposite side of head. Read number at end point and write down this measurement.
5) Finally, measure length of face. Start at middle of hairline. Run measuring tape down face, over nose and to tip of chin. Read number at end point and write down measurement.
If you’re OVAL, length of face equals one and a half times the width. You can wear practically any hairstyle.
If you’re ROUND, your face is as wide as it is long. Hairstyles should have height at crown. Off center parts, sweptback styles or lots of length. Avoid short, cropped hairstyles or styles with fullness at sides.
If you’re OBLONG, your face is longer than wide. Hairstyles are short to medium length. Layers will soften, especially around face. Avoid long styles
If you’re HEART-SHAPED, you have narrow jaw with wide cheekbones and/or forehead. A chin length bob is perfect. Longer styles work well, but avoid height at crown or slicked back and super short styles.
If you’re SQUARE, your face is as wide as it is long but with a mroe angular shape than round. Use short to medium length hairstyles. Also wavy styles and wispy bangs. No straight hairstyles. Bobs should sit either above or below jaw line
