These are the summer nail trends to try out this season.
It’s the easiest way to refresh your look for summer. This season’s nail game is anything but basic, from one very unexpected color to a classy comeback look reinvented in a modern way.
Studio 5 Style & Beauty Contributor Megan Moore shared what to ask for at the nail salon.
Butter Yellow
Butter yellow is having a moment, and it’s the perfect way to embrace color without going overboard. This pale, milky yellow is flattering and subtle, making it a great entry point if you’re hesitant about bold colors. “You want to make sure that it has a milkiness to it, a white kind of base tone,” Megan advised. Whether you go for a full set or just an accent nail, this color is a really fun one to try.
Sculptural Nail Art
Sculptural nail art is the trend to try if you want to make a big statement. “ Basically there’s this new trend of using this sculptural 3D gel,” Megan said. “It’s a a resin.” From tiny cherries to beachy starfish and bows, this trend is all about texture and creativity.
You’ll probably want to visit a salon for custom sculpted nails, but there are press-on options you can try at home. It’s a fun way to bring fashion, design, and beauty together.
Fruity Nail Art
Fruit-themed nail art is another playful trend that’s perfect for summer. “The biggest thing right now is fruit design,” Megan mentioned. Whether it’s strawberries, blueberries, or kiwis, this trend is customizable and fun.
“You can mix and match. Do it on a few fingers, on just one, or the whole shebang,” she said. DIY kits with pre-designed 3D fruit pieces make it easy to try at home—just apply your base color, add your nail charm with tweezers, and seal with clear polish.
Micro French Tips
The French manicure is back, but with a modern twist. “This is the micro French tip,” Megan explained. “It is something that is very tiny. It’s just a little kiss of color on the very end.”
This updated French tip is perfect for short nails, and is minimalist yet chic. “It feels more elevated, it feels more modern,” Megan emphasized. Whether you go to a salon or try press-ons, it’s an easy way to stay on trend.
