Transform Any Space with the Right Rug

You have to consider the scale of the pattern when mixing prints. I like to
choose a completely different texture, pattern and color in my rug, compared
to bedding or other furniture

LOVE TO LAYER

Even if your room has wall to wall carpet, you can layer two rugs on top of
each other for a dramatic effect. People often don’t think to put a rug
underneath bar stools, but I like to layer them under stools as a catch all!

BUILD ROOM AROUND IT

People often build a room around a paint color or a piece of furniture. I say,
build a room around a rug! Once you pick your rug, pick coordinating
accessories, paint, even furniture to compliment the rug.

SIZE WISE

When it comes to size, an area rug should be as big as the sitting group it
anchors. You should also think about scale. For example, a rug should be a
little larger than the kitchen table and chairs it anchors.

GO FOR GREY

If you have a large room with a lot of windows or natural light, a shaggy grey
rug is great to ground the room. A dark rug can add depth, grounding a
large room that has lots of natural light. Once thought of as edgy and urban,
grey is now at the forefront of home design. A perfectly versatile neutral
grey beautifully coordinates with just about any accent color.

DEFINE SPACE

We all have that wasted or dead space in areas of our house. The right
placement of a good rug can help define dead space.
