Treat Bags for Any Occasion

Whether it’s a treat for the soccer team, or a sweet favor for a baby shower, we have a way to keep treat bags simple, but still special for each event.

Tammy Smith with Cuttin’ & Stampin’ shares her formula.

It starts with decorating the candy in the package, then creating a great topper and securing it all with a bow!

1. Decorate the candy.

I start by using the Jaded Blossom candies stamps. These stamps are great little circles with saying that cover a wide verity of occasions. They are easily cut out with a 7/8″ or 1″ circle punch.

Using a 1 ¼” scallop circle cut the same number of pieces using different colors and patterns of paper. Glue the stamped circles to the scallop circles.

Attach the scalloped pieces to the bottom of store bought candy. I like to use Hershey Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Rolos.

2. Create bag topper.

Jaded Blossom has created a great die cut that fits bags from 2″ to 3″ wide. The die cut comes with two pieces, one long enough to fold in half over the top the other is a front insert piece. I cut one of each.

With the insert piece I use Paper Smooches clear stamps to plan my layout for the top. I really enjoy using this line of stamps with its whimsical images and quirky sayings. With a large clear block press it over the laid out stamps to keep them in place.

Stamp images and color with your favorite markers. Then glue the insert to the topper.

3. Close bag with a bow.

Fill a clear cellophane bag with candy; fold the top over about 1/8″ twice. Then put the finished topper over the bag. Using a small whole punch, punch 2 holes about 1/16″ apart.

Take the ribbon and feed it through the two holes from the front of the bag. There should be equal amounts of ribbon hanging down the back. Cross the ribbon and feed the end back through to the front.

Tie a bow with the ribbon and trim the ends. Place popped up items on to finish.
