U of U ‘Power of Pink’ Gymnastics Meet

Megan Marsden gives details about the ‘Power of Pink’ U of U Gymnastics meet.


Utah Gymnastics hosts Nebraska in the Power of Pink meet on Friday, March 5th at 7pm in the Jon. M. Huntsman Center. Anyone who wears pink to support cancer awareness will receive free admission. 5,000 pink foam hats will be distribute in the lower bowl to promote the Power of Pink. This meet we will also be celebrating 35 years of Utah Gymnastics by recognizing former Utah Gymnasts in a special pre-meet ceremony.

QUICK GYMNASTICS STATS:

Friday marks the annual Alumni meet and 20-plus former Ute gymnasts will be recognized in a pre-meet ceremony. Utah remains at No. 9 in the national rankings for the second-straight week … Utah and Nebraska have played two common opponents this season. Both defeated Washington in Seattle, while Utah lost to Michigan in Ann Arbor and Nebraska beat the Wolverines in Lincoln … Utes doubtful compete due to injuries are Gael Mackie (ankle) and Katelyn Mohr (back). Stephanie McAllister (ankle) is questionable on floor, while Beth Rizzo (toe) is good to go … Kyndal Robarts has won the last seven vault competitions and ranks third in the nation on that event with a 9.920 regional qualifying score (RQS) … Annie DiLuzio has five wins on floor, where she is currently tied for fifth in the nation with a 9.895 RQS … Utah has three all-arounders ranked in the top 20: Daria Bijak is tied for 12th (39.30 RQS), Jamie Deetscreek is No. 15 (39.200 RQS) and Robarts ranks 19th (39.140 RQS) … Freshman Meg Whitney got her first collegiate start last week at BYU and scored a 9.80 on vault and a 9.625 on floor … In its two losses, Utah won just one individual title (Robarts on vault vs. Michigan). In the six wins, a Ute has won 28 of the 30 event/all-around titles … Ute winners are Deetscreek (9), Bijak (8), DiLuzio (8). Robarts (8) and Cortni Beers (1) … Three Utes are still without a fall this season: Robarts (30-30), Beers (15-15), and Rizzo (9-9) … Utah did not count a fall for the first six meets, but has counted one on beam in the last two meets.
