UDOT: Summer Road Construction

Memorial Day weekend is almost here, and that means it’s time for road
construction. This year is UDOT’s busiest construction season ever, with
more than 200 road construction projects planned this summer throughout
the state.

Tuesday morning in Orem, I-15 CORE construction crews are scheduled to
open a new continuous flow intersection on University Parkway at Sandhill
Road near Utah Valley University. This innovative new intersection will
create more green lights on this busy stretch of road and improve traffic
flow.

During the next two weeks, more than 30,000 students and parents from
20 high schools in Salt Lake and Utah counties will be traveling in the area
to attend graduations at Utah Valley University. UDOT is working to help
those drivers learn how to navigate the new intersection to arrive at
graduation on time.

Drivers are encouraged to visit the I-15 CORE website at
udot.utah.gov/i15core and watch an animated tutorial that demonstrates
how to drive the new continuous flow intersection, or CFI. Opening this
intersection is an important milestone for the I-15 CORE project, which is
on schedule for completion in December.

Another big change on I-15 CORE is the Provo Center Street northbound
off-ramp is closing tomorrow night for up to 40 days. The ramp will close
so crews can move forward with constructing the new ramp and widening
the freeway. To access downtown Provo from the south, use the University
Avenue exit.
