Turn those basic American flags into pretty patriotic decor!
With summer in full swing and the patriotic holidays stacking up. we have reason to celebrate with red, white, and blue. From Flag Day to the Fourth of July – and all the way through Pioneer Day, it’s always fun to bring that festive touch into our homes.
Kara Davis, from House of Turnberry, shared easy, Americana-inspired ideas that pack a patriotic punch and fill your home with pride!
Kara suggested using inexpensive flags as décor. With the options at dollar stores, or even Target and Amazon, you can add fun patriotic details.
Flag Wreath
Tie a few flags in a bundle to the side of your front door wreath. It’s a creative twist on the traditional ribbon swags.
Patriotic Ribbon Garland
You can also create a garland. Be sure to find the flags that are stapled to the dowel, not sewn around it. You can remove the staples and then add the flags to a ribbon. Simply tie red, white, and blue ribbon bows between the flags and you’ve created a fun and festive banner for the mantle.
Flag Candlesticks
Another fun idea is to fill candlesticks with flags. To make the flags stay in place, fill the hole with air-dry clay and insert the flag. Tie ribbons to the dowels for an added touch.
Flags in Existing Decor
Kara likes to simply insert flags into existing arrangements or décor in her home. Look for simple ways to add flags around your home to bring in a bit of the Americana aesthetic.
