What to do with the empty space that holiday décor leaves behind

Change up the feel of your space with just a few core pieces and things you likely have around your house. Amanda Bullard shares tips for the techniques that will make any space feel fresh.

After the holiday décor comes down, use this time as a chance to make some simple changes with a fresh eye.

Invest in core styling pieces like faux florals and vases, candles and coffee table books. These items can be mixed in a variety of combinations as the seasons change. The key to creating a strong grouping is to work in sets of three with a variety of heights. Floral arrangements bring in height while books can be stacked for another layer. Mix in the functional items like boxes for the remote control or candles.

You can also work in sets of four if you keep the placement symmetrical. Look to add in metals or crystal for another textural detail. By using these formulas, you can really make your space special with the items you already own.
