Utah Olympic Oval: The Ideal Venue

Home to the “Fastest Ice on Earth”, the Utah Olympic Oval anticipates several record-breaking performances during the three-day event.


The Olympic Oval was built for the purpose of hosting the speed skating competitions during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and now serves as a legacy to the state of Utah for all members of the community to enjoy. The Utah Olympic Oval holds an incredible 10 Olympic records and has set over 60 World Records since opening, claiming the title of the “Fastest Ice on Earth”

The Utah Olympic Oval is open year round for public skating. You can skate on the ice made famous during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

The goal of the Utah Olympic Oval is to get people of all ages to enjoy the programs offered here including learning to skate, play hockey, figure skate, speed skate and curling.

Here are some interesting facts about the Oval: It’s one of only two 400-meter enclosed Ovals in the United States. It hosted the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games. It’s the highest altitude enclosed Oval in the world at 4675 feet. The arena itself covers 5.17 acres (that’s 266,930 square feet) over 57 feet tall and can fit two 747 airplanes nose to nose.

The Oval offers group skating, a scout program and birthday party packages with the Olympic mascots Coal, Copper, and Powder.

The Utah Olympic Oval is the ideal venue for a wide variety of functions including meetings, receptions, corporate retreats, team building, banquets and family reunions.

As an Official Olympic Training site and home of the U. S Speed Skating teams, you may get a glimpse of Olympians training here.

There are other outside events that are held at the Oval including the World Cup Short Track/Long Track Speed Skating events, the U.S. Championship Speed Skating events along with various sporting events including Roller Derby, Gymnastics, Karate, Track & Field, Figure Skating and Hockey.
