Close to Home Campgrounds: 6 spots to check out for a change of scenery

Sometimes you just need a little change of scenery. Here are five campgrounds perfect for a quick weekend getaway.

If you’re a travelling family, you are probably pretty bummed out at how this year has turned out. No Spring break, no early Summer vacations, but there are a lot of pretty places to explore here in Utah. And, you don’t have to go very far! There are some great camping spots right in your backyard. So here are six campgrounds to try out for a quick getaway.

Little Mill, American Fork Canyon

Located in American Fork Canyon, this campground is perfect for hiking and fishing. Amenities include firewood, grills, and picnic tables. You will need to bring all the water you need for your stay, as there is none available at the site. There is no service at the campground, so it’s the perfect time to unplug.

Nearby activities include Tibble Fork Reservoir and Timpanogos Cave.

St George/Hurricane KOA

Explore the beautiful red rock of Southern Utah! Amenities include 50 max amp hook-ups, wifi, cable TV, mini golf, and a pool. The campground includes RV sites, tent sites, lodging, and park models.

Nearby activities include Quail Creek Reservoir, Sand Hollow, and Red Cliffs National Conservation Area.

Brigham City/Perry South KOA

Get away from it all for a breath of fresh air. The KOA in Perry has 50 max amp hook-ups, wifi, laundry, and a pool. There are RV sites, cabins, and tent sites.

Nearby activities include Willard Bay, Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, and Antelope Island.

Anderson Cove, Huntsville

Anderson Cove is located on the banks of Pineview Reservoir in Ogden Valley. Amenities include picnic tables, bathrooms, a boat ramp, and drinking water. They offer RV camping and tent sites.

Nearby activities include a day use beach at the reservoir. The campground includes volleyball courts and horseshoe pits.

Knotty Pine, Kamas

Located in the Uintas, this campsite is situated on the banks of the Upper Provo River, which makes it perfect for fishing. They have RV sites, tent sites, and cabins. Amenities include wifi hot spots, laundry, a pool, volleyball, basketball, and bocce ball.

Nearby activities include Park City, Heber City, and Jordanelle.

Diamond Campground, Spanish Fork

Half of the sites at this campground are reservable and half are first-come first-serve. There are RV and tent sites available, and there is drinking water and non-flush bathrooms.

Nearby activities include river fishing, hiking, and access to waterfalls.
