Put the sauce in the bag! These freezer kits simplify the dinner rush

Pack up some freezer kits to have on hand for busy days.

Make meal planning a breeze by keep certain foods on hand in the freezer to create easy and fast meals.

Kimmy Hughes shared the best way to do “fast food at home” – how to prepare freezer kits to stay one step ahead of dinner. Rather than assembling an entire meal and freezing it, freeze each of the ingredients individually in a one-gallon sized Ziplock baggie. That way, everything you need for dinner is in one convenient place.

Freezer Prep Hawaiian Pizzas

INGREDIENTS

  • Premade Pizza Dough
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Diced Pineapple
  • Diced Ham
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Ziplock baggies

METHOD

  1. Place the pizza dough with a little olive oil in a gallon sized Ziplock bag. Place that bag into another gallon sized Ziplock.
  2. Place the pizza sauce, pineapple, ham, and cheese all in their own individual sandwich bags. Place each bag into the main bag.
  3. Pop that in the freezer until you are ready to use.
  4. When ready to cook with it, bring it out of the freezer in the morning and allow it to sit out so the dough will soften and rise. Cook as you would cook a pizza.

  • If you’re freezing in Ziploc there’s no need to buy a bag holder or locate a bowl to fit your freezer bags in while you fill them. Just fold the top down to the outside and the bag stays open. Gallon size will lean a bit but is upright enough to fill. The quart size stays mostly upright. The heavier freezer bags work best but it still works with the lighterweight bags. I discovered this when I went to fill a bag with something messy and wanted to keep the zipper part clean. My method of folding pastry bags over a glass or jar to fill with frosting was my inspiration and I was a little bit thrilled when I realized I didn’t need to find a bowl in the right size to do that with the Ziploc.
