Try out these beauty AI tricks.

It’s pretty clear that AI is getting more and more useful in our lives. Many of us are using it at work, or even just to simplify and check off those daily tasks at home. But AI can also help you with your beauty routine.

Studio 5 Style & Beauty Contributor Megan Moore shared a few unique ways technology can help you find new inspiration for your look.

Beyond Filters

We’ve all seen and used filters, but as Megan pointed out, “Filters are the thing that people are most used to, but I wouldn’t say filters help you in any way.” While they are fun, they don’t actually help.

AI can be incredibly helpful when it comes to shopping for products and finding inspiration. “ You don’t have to read reviews anymore. AI can read reviews for you,” Megan emphasized.

ChatGPT for Product Recommendations

Megan recommended using ChatGPT for product recommendations. “If you’re looking for a list of products that you want to try or something specific, ChatGPT will do the work for you,” she explained.

Put in your specific needs, like skin type and age, and ChatGPT can generate a tailored skincare routine. “ I’m going in and I’m saying… ‘I’m a woman in my sixties. I have dry skin. I have bags under my eyes,’ whatever it is that you have, and it will generate a routine for you,” Megan explained. You can even refine your search to include only drugstore products or those with clean ingredients.

Pinterest for Visual Inspiration

Pinterest’s updated algorithm is a game-changer. Megan explained that Pinterest now reads images, not just text. You can search for specific looks, such as ‘older woman haircut ideas.’ “ So you go in and say, ‘I want an older woman haircut ideas, I want fine hair, curly hair. There’s little tabs that show you the texture. So then you can change the texture and it’s going to generate new images,” she explained.

It will also let you change skin color when looking for makeup inspiration. “You can say, ‘I want blush ideas for a woman over 60,’ and then it will have the tabs at the top and it will say ‘skin tone colors.’ So then you can select your skin tone so it’s going to pull images that look more like you,” Megan said. This feature lets you to find inspiration that is more personalized and relevant to what you’re looking for.

Virtual Hair Cut & Color Testing

You can also virtually test hair color options using AI. This technology is still being refined, but it is a great starting point if you’re considering a major change. “ If you’re going to make a big chop, it’s kind of nice to know what that would look like,” Megan emphasized.

She suggested using apps that allow you to see different hair colors and cuts on your own photo, like AI Ease. “ So you want to put your hair back, you want to be a natural light, and it will generate different kind of templates of color and cut,” Megan explained. There are a few hiccups, but it’s a useful tool for visualizing potential changes before making a commitment.

Foundation Shade Matching

Finding the perfect foundation shade is a challenge, but AI is making it easier. Many brands now offer shade finders on their websites. You can take a selfie in natural light and the AI will recommend the best shades for your skin tone. “ You’ll take a selfie with no makeup on… It’s going to ask a couple questions really quick and easy, and then it’s going to give you their recommended colors in their line,” Megan explained. This can save you time trying to match yourself, and also increases the likelihood of finding a perfect match.

“ Then you can take that a step further and you can actually see what it’s going to look like on your face,” Megan said. The split screen image let’s you see what your face looks like with and without the foundation.
