Going glam is for any age!
We hear it all the time, less is more, especially when we age and we’re trying to achieve more youthful looking skin. But what about the mature woman who wants to go glam? There’s got to be a time and a place for that too.
Style & Beauty Contributor Megan Moore shared some guidance for anyone pulled more toward the glam side of things.

Modern Glam
Megan emphasized that beauty exists on a spectrum. “There is a spectrum,” She said. “Some people love to be natural and not wear a lot… on the other side of that spectrum is the woman that loves to go full glam.” Find where you fall on that spectrum and feel confident in your choice.
Megan said the glam end of the spectrum doesn’t get talked about as much in the mature space. “ We’re gonna embrace that, we’re gonna go for it, we’re gonna share all the fun things that you can do if that kind of feels like it’s authentic to you,” she emphasized.
The beauty industry has leaned towards minimalism in recent years. “The pendulum has swung to that more minimalist focus in the beauty space, not just for mature women, but for young women too,” Megan noted. However, she also said that there’s a shift happening, with more people embracing glam looks again. If you love bold looks, now is the time to embrace them.
Megan does recommend sticking to one bold area, though. “ I would say, don’t try and do everything. Pick and choose maybe one specific area where you want to go a little bit bolder so you don’t look too over the top,” she advised.
One of the most important parts of pulling off a glam look is confidence. “If you’re drawn to it, you’ve got to commit and it’s got to be the whole kind of vibe,” Megan advised. Confidence in your style choices can make all the difference in how you carry yourself and how others perceive you.
Signature Looks
Glasses
Megan highlighted ‘the signature look.’ She mentioned several influencers who have mastered this. For example, Carla Rockmore. “Her signature look is she tops everything with a fun pair of glasses,” Megan explained. “” That’s a really fun one to start with if you’re not into big makeup or fashion. Glasses could be a really fun one.” Finding a unique element that defines your style helps you stand out.
If you want to go down the glasses road, Megan suggested checking out Image Eyes Optical. “They bring in the coolest glasses. They have the coolest designers,” Megan emphasized. “They bring them in from over in Europe, young up and coming designers. Just stuff that you don’t see at any other glasses store.” There are three locations in Utah, so stop by if you want to make glasses part of your signature look.
Glowy Cheeks
Another influence Megan is drawn to is Aging With Style and Grays on Instagram. “ She is embracing her gray hair, but what I love about her is… I am instantly drawn towards that glowy cheek,” Megan emphasized. It’s not necessarily a blush, but it’s a beautiful glow that gives her a youthful look.
This is an easy look anyone can achieve. “This is the L’Oreal Lumi Glass Stix,” Megan recommended. “The glass one is beautiful and it just has this wash of shimmer on it.” There are two options in these Glass Stix, and Megan recommended staying away from the glowy, as it is more metallic.
Accessories
Accessories can be a big part of a glam look. Megan likes White Hair Wisdom on Instagram for her use of accessories. “She layers a lot of jewelry. She’ll wear a cute hat,” Megan said. Accessories elevate any outfit and add a personal touch to your style.
“ She just loves to embrace the accessories,” Megan said. “ It’s different for somebody in her age category and it really makes her stand out, but it’s achievable.”
Accessories are getting more accessible for a more mature crowd as well. “ It used to be really only that you could find them for, like, teens and young people at Claire’s, right? But now accessories are available in all ages,” Megan emphasized. She recommended things that read a little more elevated. Accessories with polka dots, pearls, things that are more classic will come across as more mature.
Bold Lip
Bold makeup can be a great way to express your personality. Megan mentioned Rose-Marie Swift. “Her signature look is she always has a bold lip on,” she said. Bold makeup can be a fun and empowering way to enhance your look.
“If you want to try a bold lip, I love these ones by Maybelline. They’re called the Teddy Tint and they come in these really bold colors, but they actually are very easy to wear because they actually go on quite sheer,” Megan explained. You can do one layer and get a pop of color, or do another and get even more. Megan loves these because they’re comfortable and they stain your lips, but they aren’t a full blown lipstick, which can feel intimidating.
