Apple Preparation
Select a variety of crisp eating apples
Quarter and core apples; slice into 1/4-1/2 inch thick slices. Stir 1/4 lemon juice into 3/4 cup cold water. Dip apples slices in solution to keep them from browning. Arrange on serving tray. Try dipping with 1 or more the following dips.
Caramel Yogurt Dip
1 cup caramel apple dip
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Combine all ingredients and stir until smooth. Makes approximately 2 cups.
Cream Cheese Caramel Dip
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine all ingredients and beat until smooth. May thin dip with a little milk to desired consistency, if needed. Makes approximately 1 1/4 cups.
Warm Cream Cheese Caramel Dip
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup dark corn syrup
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese
Combine sweetened condensed milk, corn syrup, and brown sugar in 1 1/2 quart microwaveable bowl. Microwave on high, stirring every 30 seconds, just until it boils (approximately 2-2 1/2 minutes). Stir in vanilla and cream cheese. Stir until cream cheese is blended. Serve warm. Makes approximately 3 cups.
Ice Cream Topping Dip
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup caramel ice cream topping
2 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Combine all ingredients and beat until smooth. Makes approximately 1 1/3 cups.
Sharp Cheese Spread
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup apple juice
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoon butter
Mix until well blended. Spread on apple slices or crackers. Makes approximately 1 1/2 cups.
