Behind-the-Scenes With Olympic Athletes: 2 docuseries to watch before the Games

These docuseries will give you a glimpse of what it’s like to be an Olympian.

Netflix has recently launched two sports docuseries that offer an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at some of the biggest Olympic stars, just in time for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Host of KSL Newsradio’s “The Movie Show,” Andy Farnsworth, shared details.

These docuseries provide a unique opportunity for viewers worldwide to get an inside look at the lives of athletes before the Olympics kick off. They focus on sports like gymnastics and track and field, offering a deep dive into the lives of athletes who often disappear from the public eye between Olympic events.

Sprint: A Closer Look at Top-Class Sprinters

The docuseries “Sprint” provides a comprehensive look at top-class sprinters, not just from America, but from around the world. The series focuses heavily on Noah Lyles, the current champion, and offers viewers a chance to get to know the defending Olympic champions and their competitive history.

The backstories of these athletes are what make the series so compelling. Netflix gives viewers a chance to understand the layers of these athletes, their struggles, and their triumphs. This deep understanding enhances the Olympic viewing experience, as viewers can follow the storylines of athletes they’ve come to know through the series.

Simone Biles Rising: An Intimate Portrait of a Champion

Netflix also released “Simone Biles Rising,” a docuseries that delves into the life of Simone Biles, a gymnast who has won golds in two out of the last three Olympics. The series explores her journey, including her very public struggle with mental health issues during the COVID Olympics.

A Word of Caution

While these docuseries offer an exciting glimpse into the lives of athletes, viewers should be aware that they may not be suitable for younger audiences. In particular, “Simone Biles Rising” discusses some of the abuse that occurred in U.S. gymnastics. It’s recommended that parents preview the series before watching it with their children.
