The Best of Yelp: 5 of the top Utah restaurants that are reviewer approved

These are the Utah restaurants to try next time you go out.

It’s an easy app to reach for in a pinch, but do the recommendations live up to the hype?

Chelsea Fairbourn tested Yelp’s favorite food spots to see if it’s worth your bite. She’s got one rule: if it has over 100 reviews and scores more than 4.5 stars, it’s probably good. “Anything less on either criteria, and we just don’t know,” she added.

Chelsea doesn’t rule out anything that’s below 4.5 stars. That’s where word of mouth kicks in! If she hears from a trusted source, she’ll take a chance. It’s a science. She compared her experience with five local stops with the Yelp review section.

Holy Taco

327 E. 1200 South, Orem UT

Yelp says this one has amazing tacos, with a simple menu. “I would agree,” Chelsea added, “But you HAVE to know they only serve Al Pastor tacos. If that’s not your cup of tea, Holy Taco isn’t for you.”

Blacksmith Ice Cream Co.

180 S. Main Street, Millcreek

Yelper’s love the quality ingredients and inventive flavors. Chelsea said this review stands up for itself! The flavors are thoughtfully curated, and really are different from your run-of-the-mill ice cream shop. They also house an additional location in Bountiful. Chelsea recommended the Campfire Smore ice cream, the Raspberry, and the Honey Lavender.

Five5eeds

1600 Snow Creek Drive, Park City

Yelp says this is an awesome brunch spot – health conscious, and locally sourced. “I’ll add that the food is so good you don’t realize you’re being health conscious!” Chelsea remarked. The reviews are true—a great variety on the menu and dietary-restriction friendly. She loved the hot cakes, which are loaded with fruit.

Osteria Amore

224 S. 1300 East, Salt Lake City

The Yelp reviews all checked out here. This restaurant is highly-rated for it’s ambiance, food, and service. Chelsea loved their handmade pasta and applauded their gnocchi in a pizza bowl.

Tona

210 25th Street, Ogden

Yelp praises the great quality of food, the authentic experience, and unique menu options. Chelsea backed em’ up. She said the rolls are inventive, and recommended the Avalanche and the Hot Lava roll.
