Blast From the Past: A Heartfelt Reunion with Becky Low

As Studio 5 celebrates 19 years on air, the team is taking a walk down memory lane with a special series called “Blast from the Past.” Each day, a beloved guest from the show’s history returns to surprise host Brooke Walker—and to kick off the week was none other than the cherished former Food Contributor Becky Low.

A Familiar Face Returns

“Becky Low. Get back in here. My sister. How are you?”

With a silhouette that gave her away almost instantly, Becky’s return brought joy and emotion to the studio. Known for her warmth, culinary wisdom, and deep connection to family and culture, Becky was a staple of Studio 5’s Friday segments for years.

A Mission of Service and Connection

“The last six years I’ve been serving with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a service missionary with BYU Pathway Worldwide,” Becky described.

Becky shared her recent journey as a missionary, connecting with students and missionaries around the world. Her love for travel and history has taken her from local gems like Little Finland to the castles of Europe, including Budapest, Austria, and Germany.

Favorite Memories from the Studio Kitchen

“One of my favorite segments was when I found my grandmother’s old recipe for strawberry rhubarb pastry,” Becky said.

Becky’s time on Studio 5 was filled with meaningful moments, from sharing treasured family recipes to cooking alongside children—including Brooke’s own kids. One especially touching memory was a Christmas cookie segment featuring Brooke’s children.

“You taught Emmy to crack an egg… Every once in a while she’ll mention that,” said Brooke.

A Legacy of Love, Food, and Family

“Studio 5 literally has been a part of everybody’s life for so long,” Becky said.

Becky brought a basket of kitchen utensils to symbolize the variety and richness of Studio 5’s content—cooking, nutrition, relationships, and lifestyle. Each tool represented a different aspect of the show’s mission to enrich daily life.

“I loved connecting with people and culture, and friends and family,” Becky said.

A Beautiful Start to the Series

“It’s really a special thing to have sat by someone in this environment so long that you do feel so safe and familiar,” Brooke noted.

Becky’s visit was more than a reunion—it was a reminder of the heart and soul behind Studio 5. Her presence set a high bar for the rest of the week’s “Blast from the Past” series, bringing warmth, gratitude, and a few happy tears to the studio.
