Blast from the Past: Celebrating Studio 5’s Legacy with Darin Adams

As we reflect on the last 19 years, there’s two things we keep coming back to. One is the word gratitude, and the second is the people. The people that we’re grateful for, and the people who have made this show what it is, friends that we have made, and friends that we will keep and have kept for more than two decades.

As part of our “Blast from the Past” series, the team reunited with beloved contributors who helped shape the show’s identity. The last surprise of the series was none other than Darin Adams, the original co-host of Studio 5.

A Fast Friendship and a Memorable Audition

Darin talked about the audition process, sharing how Michelle Torsak had a hunch about pairing him with current host Brooke Walker. “I think there’s something there… I think that’s the future,” Michelle had said. The chemistry was instant, and the partnership lasted seven years.

Brooke added, “Can you only imagine when KSL brought him a 21-year-old with little to no TV experience?… You made me look really good and I’m really grateful.”

Favorite Moments and Hilarious Challenges

When asked about his favorite segment, Darin recalled the “Dare To” challenge where he ran a 5K live on air. “I remember trying to work out the night before… I’m gonna have a heart attack on the show,” he joked.

Brooke also shared her own challenge: dancing with the BYU ballroom team. “Why did we let people talk us into these things?” she laughed.

A Legacy of Laughter and Gratitude

The reunion with Darin was a reminder of Studio 5’s roots and the friendships that have endured. “We had some really good times,” Brooke said.
