Candlelight Christmas: A Utah Tradition

Holly Curtis, from This Is The Place Heritage Park shares some of her insights into one of the most festive times at the park.

From real reindeer and carolers to kids’ crafts and a visit with Santa, Candlelight Christmas at This Is the Place Heritage Park is a chance to celebrate the holiday as it was in a simpler, more relaxed time. We’ve trimmed the Village with decorations, stocked the fireplaces and brewed up plenty of hot cider.

While the whole family can ride the Park trains to see large light displays, dance at the school, or have a family photo taken, couples can enjoy the romance of a quiet stroll along Heritage Village streets just as their ancestors might have done. Everyone can watch a puppet show or visit the live Nativity scene.

New this year is a Christmas Workshop where the Village artisans will display their work in wood, leather, tin and other skills. We’ll have lots more to see and do, so join us for an old-fashioned Candlelight Christmas.
