Cherry Almond Crisp

The simple, sweet way to enjoy what’s in season! Local farmers
markets and fruit stands are full or sweet, ripe, dark cherries.
Cherry Almond Crisp
1/3
cup white granulated sugar
1/4
cup cornstarch
6
cups pitted sweet dark cherries*
1/4-1/2
teaspoon almond extract
Dash
salt
1/3
cup flour
1/2
cup brown sugar
1/2
teaspoon cinnamon
1/8
teaspoon nutmeg
1
cup old fashioned rolled oats
1/2
cup slivered almonds
1/2
cup butter, melted
Whipped cream or ice cream

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray 11×7 casserole dish or baking pan with sides with
non-stick spray.
Combine white sugar and cornstarch. Toss cherries with almond extract, sprinkle sugar
and cornstarch over
cherries and toss. Place cherries in prepared pan.
Stir together salt, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, rolled oats and almonds. Add
melted butter and toss
until well mixed. Sprinkle over cherries. Bake 35-45 minutes or until cherries are bubbly
in the center and topping
is crispy. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.

Notes:
Sweet dark cherries add depth of flavor to this great seasonal dessert! Recipe serves 8
* May substitute frozen cherries (frozen without sugar), thaw.
