Chocolate and Cheese Fondue

Family Cheese Fondue
2 T. flour

1 ¼ C. whole milk or half and half

1 tsp. onion powder

1 tsp. granulated garlic, or powder

1 lb. Swiss cheese grated

1 lb. Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Juice of 1 lemon

Put flour in large saucepan, Add 1/4 c of milk and whisk until smooth. Add the rest of the milk and dry spices and whisk until smooth. Heat over medium heat until hot, but not boiling. Add cheeses and lemon juice and cook until smooth, thick and all the cheese is melted. (May take 5 minutes or so) Rub inside of fondue pot with a clove of garlic, then transfer sauce into pot, or heat proof bowl if you are fast eaters. If mixture gets too thick, heat up fondue pot to keep mixture “dippable”.

Ideas for dipping: Broccoli, whole mushrooms, baby carrots, small zucchini slices, cooked shrimp, cooked mini franks, cubed, slightly dry French bread, cut up leftover turkey or chicken, anything your kids like!

Dessert Fudge Fondue
5 squares semisweet dark baking chocolate, or 1 bag of chocolate chips

2 T. butter

2 T. light corn syrup

½ C. sugar

½ C. heavy cream

Measure all ingredients into a medium saucepan. Place pot over med. heat and melt and stir until all the ingredients are melted and sauce begins to bubble slightly. Do not rush this and do not use high heat! Transfer to fondue pot and enjoy! This is also excellent over ice cream, if you have any left.

Dippers: Chunks of angel food cake, banana slices, kiwi, pineapple chunks, cut up banana slices, large strawberries, just about any fruit that your family likes.
