Class up your winter date night outfit! 5 looks that are comfy and stylish

Date night outfits can be stylish and comfortable!

As we kick off the month of love, we’re assuming that you will have at least a few reasons to get dressed up. Whether you’ve got a romantic date night on the calendar or just an excuse to get fancy, we’ve got you covered.

Studio 5 Style & Fashion Contributor Casey Matheny shared five fabulous outfit ideas that will get you excited to upgrade your go to jeans or joggers.

1. Statement Coat & Knit Dress

A wool coat over a knit dress is a classic combo. Casey is all about filling your closet with coats for the wintertime. “ In the wintertime, you need a collection of coats,” she said. “They’re like your little army because that’s all people are gonna see when you’re out and about is what coat you’re wearing.”

She paired this look with knee-high boots and sheer tights. When it comes to knee-high boots, Casey says two pair is a good place to start. “ I think that you should have a brown one and a black one, and then what it looks like from there is up to you,” she explained. “I personally only wear these with skirts and dresses.

Add statement earrings to finish of the look with a glam touch.

2. Monochrome Luxe

A winter-white combo of a cashmere turtleneck tucked into wide-leg trousers. “ It’s really the silhouette, this wider leg that nips you in at the waist,” Casey said. Cinch it with a sleek belt and finish off with pointed-toe boots. A tailored coat completes the look.

3. Denim & Faux Fur

This look consists of straight-leg jeans with a fitted bodysuit and a cropped faux fur jacket. “ Choose your favorite denim, add a turtleneck underneath, and then a faux fur on top,” Casey said.

She said a cropped jacket is the way to go. “I love a cropped look. It makes your legs look like they’re legs for days,” Casey emphasized.

Go for stylish sneakers or flats for a casual but chic vibe.

4. Oversized Sweater & Skirt

Put together a chunky knit sweater paired with a midi or mini skirt and sheer tights. “ I love this look with a little shorter skirt and a big sweater, but I don’t want my legs to be exposed, whether I have taller boots or not,” Casey said.

The shoes she chose were block heel boots. “I like the juxtaposition of a more preppy top with a harder boot. But you could just as easily do a taller black sleek boot or a brown boot and pull it together,” Casey explained.

Layer accessories for an added touch. “ I love that we are getting playful with jewelry. I love this layering,” Casey emphasized.

5. Grey is the New Black

Casey says grey is the new black! “ It’s just a little edgier,” she said. “It looks so put together.” She paired an oversized grey sweater with grey straight-leg trousers and glove boots, a black belt, and fun earrings!
