These Christmas tree photos will be a unique way to remember the season!
You’ve set up the tree, now set up the shot. The Christmas tree makes the perfect backdrop for magical holiday photos.
Rebecca Franson, of Camera Mama, shared four ideas to capture the lights and sights of the season in front of your tree.
BOKEH
It’s those magical, blurry circles of light created by small points of light. The word bokeh comes from the Japanese word ‘boke’ which means haze or blur.
Here’s how to create it using your Christmas tree as the source of the magical light!
- Phone: Portrait mode Camera: Shoot wide open/use the widest aperture/lowest f-stop number
- Separate your subject from the tree
- Have fun and play around!
RING OF FIRE
Create a little bit of magic with no expensive equipment or editing necessary.
All you need is a copper pipe 3/4″-1″ diameter and ~2 inches long from the plumbing section of a hardware store.
Put the copper pipe on the lens and the drill stop on the cell phone lens.
Use a UV filter to protect your lens from the pipe.
Experiment & get creative!
GLOWING BOOK
Turn off the overhead lights.
Use an iPhone or iPad to light up the faces.
Get down low on the ground to take the shot.
Have fun!
CANDY CANE HEARTS
A fun little twist to create a heart and shoot through the shape.
