Cottage Pie

Cottage Pie
2 Tbsp. canola oil
1 cup onion
2 cloves of garlic
2 lbs ground beef
¼ tsp. ground savory, or thyme
1 cup brown gravy
12 oz package of frozen peas or green beans
1 cup of cheddar cheese
3 cups of mashed potatoes
¼ cup of butter
salt
pepper


Saute onions until lightly browned. Add beef and brown. Pour off any fat in the pan. Add garlic, savory or thyme,

salt and pepper. Cook for five minutes. Stir in gravy (I use a package of dried gravy mix found in the supermarket mixed into one cup of water), and frozen vegetables, heat until bubbling. Pour into a 13×9 casserole dish. Put the cheese on top of the meat mixture. Then spread the mashed potatoes over the top, making sure that the potatoes are sealed to the side of the casserole. Dot with pieces of butter.

Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes, or until potatoes are lightly browned.
