Cruising With Get Away Today

Want an all-inclusive, affordable, adventure? The answer for your next big adventure might be a cruise.
Jen Dunyon, from Get Away Today Vacations shares her tips and picks for taking a cruise you will never forget.

I just returned from the Carnival Dream out of Port Canaveral and combined it with a few days in Walt Disney World. People who’ve cruised before are calling and taking advantage of specials right now. For anyone who hasn’t cruises and is a little nervous, here’s some advice:

· Cruise Travel Tips:

o When to book? The earlier the better for a cruise. You get the best cabin selection and the best deals. Plus, cruises allow you to make payments up to 75 days before travel.

o Where should I go? Cruising is a year round vacation choice. The cruise lines relocate their ships to key travel destinations during the best season of the year to experience the destination.

. Winter/Spring: The Caribbean and Bahamas

. Summer: Alaska, Mediterranean,

. Fall: New England/Canada (Great deals right now)

. Fall: Mexican Riviera, Pacific Coastal Cruises

o What Cruise Line?

. Disney- All the magic! Wholesome entertainment, first class service.

. Royal Caribbean- All the bells and whistles! Rock climbing wall, largest ships, ice skating, flow riders, and on and on.

. Princess- Classy ships, great guest feedback.

. Carnival- Affordable, fun, fun! Delicious food!

o Which Ship?

. We recommend going on the newest ship you can afford. They have more features, more state of the art technology and tend to have the best guest feedback.

. I loved the Royal Caribbean, Allure (largest ship at sea), The new Disney Fantasy (7 day itineraries on the most beautiful ship!), and the Carnival Dream (Has all the new fun enhancements with Carnival).

o How long to go?

. As long as you can! The benefit of a cruise is you only have to unpack once, but you can see numerous different ports!

o How should I book my Shore Excursions?

. There are times that we recommend booking through the cruise line (if it’s a long excursion and you’re worried about getting to the ship in time).

. Otherwise we recommend 3rd several Shore Excursion companies that we’ve negotiated discounts with.

. Plan your shore excursions as early as possible as the most popular ones fill up quickly.

o Extra Tips: Cruises are the easiest way to travel with big groups and families. You have set dining times, activities for all ages, and all the details are taken care of for you.
