3 decor pieces can carry you through Christmas! What they are and how to style them…

These are the decor pieces you can have out for the rest of the year!

The magic number is three. Focus your decorating energy and budget on three key decor pieces that will anchor your holiday home from Halloween to Christmas.

Designer Sarah Grover shared the three decor pieces we’re putting that decorating energy toward.

A Good Vase

A good vase is something that can carry the decor in your home all year long. Sarah emphasized the importance of a versatile vase, stating, “A substantial, larger vase allows you to go all the way from spring, to fall, to Halloween, to Christmas.”

She recommended choosing a solid color, either black or white, to ensure that the vase complements any seasonal decor. “You don’t want your eye to be drawn to the pattern on the vase, you want your eye to be drawn to the gorgeous stems you’re going to be switching out,” Sarah said.

When choosing a vase, consider going bigger. “Go bigger because you may have little pieces throughout your home, but invest and find a larger piece that really can be the star,” Sarah emphasized. This larger vase can be placed in a lot of different locations, like the entryway, kitchen counter, or dining table, making it a focal point in your home.

A Good Garland

Most people don’t reach for garland until Christmas, but Sarah suggested incorporating it earlier. “We’re blessed in the state of Utah where we have lots of evergreen pieces around us in the mountains and our landscape,” Sarah said.

A good garland should feel and look real. Sarah advised, “I really suggest a cedar garland. That’s what I would do as your anchor piece.”

A flat cedar garland is a good choice because it can be easily integrated with other holiday decorations. “We definitely want them a little more dainty and delicate because we can integrate fun holiday garlands into our tablescape base,” Sarah emphasized. This versatility allows you to use the garland for all the coming holidays by just adding different elements on top.

A Good Wreath

The third essential piece is a wreath. “Just like the garland, invest in a nice evergreen wreath,” Sarah recommended.

She likes a Norfolk wreath, which is trendy yet timeless. “It’s also something that will carry you through for years and years because it’s a nice evergreen piece,” Sarah said.

To customize your wreath for different holidays, Sarah suggested adding stems or smaller picks. “You can put it right into the wreath to make it look nice and gorgeous for fall,” she explained. For Halloween, you can add fun elements like witch boots or spiders to give it a festive touch.

By focusing on these three key pieces—a good vase, garland, and wreath—you can create a versatile and festive home that transitions seamlessly from Halloween to Christmas. “If you have the anchor pieces, you can play around with it,” Sarah emphasized. Save time and money and keep your home looking beautifully decorated throughout the holiday season.
